It includes detailed guidance for all Umrah rituals, a Makkah prayer time widget, real-time weather in Makkah, a personal notes section, bookmarks, a "Find My Friend" live location feature, and Rafiq — an AI assistant for any Umrah questions.
Find My Friend lets you create or join a group with a 6-character code. Once in a group, everyone's location (or their current zone — Mataf, Sa'i, etc.) is visible in real time. The free tier supports 2 members; upgrade to Premium for groups of up to 20 people. You can also send an SOS alert that instantly notifies your group.
Rafiq is the app's built-in AI assistant, powered by Claude. Tap the floating star bubble from any screen to ask questions about Umrah rituals, duas, etiquette, or any Islamic topic. Rafiq responds in the app's current language.
The app is fully localised in English, Arabic (عربي), Urdu (اردو), Spanish (Español), and Portuguese (Português). The interface, all guidance content, and navigation automatically match the language set on your device.
The one-time Premium upgrade unlocks Find My Friend groups of up to 20 members — ideal for families, tour groups, and large travel parties. The upgrade is a single non-consumable purchase; you pay once and it never expires.
Go to the app's settings or the Premium section and tap Restore Purchases. This will re-verify your purchase with the App Store or Google Play and restore your Premium access at no extra charge.
No. My Umrah Companion requires no account, email address, or sign-up. Your display name and group code are stored locally on your device. Location data is only shared within your chosen group and is never stored permanently.
The Umrah guidance steps, notes, and bookmarks all work offline. Prayer times and weather require an internet connection for the first load (then cache locally). Find My Friend and Rafiq require an active internet connection.
Open the Find My Friend tab, scroll to the bottom of your group screen, and tap Leave Group. This removes your device from the group immediately. If you triggered an SOS, it will be cancelled automatically when you leave.
Yes. The feature uses GPS coordinates, so it works anywhere in the world. The zone detection (Mataf, Sa'i, etc.) is specific to the Masjid al-Haram area, but location sharing works globally.

🤖 Rafiq AI Assistant

A conversational AI guide available from any screen via the floating star button. Ask anything about Umrah, Islamic etiquette, duas, or Makkah — Rafiq responds in your device language.

Take personal notes during your journey and bookmark any guidance steps you want to revisit quickly. All data is stored locally on your device.

Privacy Policy

Overview

My Umrah Companion ("the App") is designed with privacy as a priority. We collect the minimum data necessary to provide the App's features and do not sell or share your data with advertisers or third-party marketers.

Data We Collect

Display name: A name you choose when joining a Find My Friend group. It is only visible to members of your group and is not linked to any real identity.

Precise location: Only collected when you use the Find My Friend feature and only while the app is in the foreground. Location is shared in real time with your group members via Firebase Realtime Database and is not stored permanently after you leave the group.

Device identifier: A randomly generated anonymous UUID is stored locally and used only to identify your device within a group session. It is not linked to your name, email, or any other personal identifier.

FCM token: A device push-notification token used solely to deliver SOS alert notifications within your group. It is stored temporarily in Firebase and deleted when you leave the group.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Email address, phone number, or any account credentials
  • Browsing history or usage analytics beyond basic crash reporting
  • Notes or bookmarks (stored locally on your device only)
  • Payment details (processed entirely by Apple / Google)

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google): Used for real-time location sharing in the Find My Friend feature. Data is stored under your anonymous UUID and deleted when you leave the group. Firebase's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy

Anthropic Claude API: Powers the Rafiq AI assistant. Messages sent to Rafiq are processed by Anthropic's API. Anthropic's privacy policy: anthropic.com/privacy

OpenWeatherMap / Adhan: Used for weather and prayer time data. Only your approximate city (Makkah) is sent — no personal data.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 4. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Significant changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
